(More customer reviews)I have no idea why this shirt was ever created, but it seems to have been made just for me. I love Popeye. I lived in Osaka, Japan for several years. I'm not sure how the two are connected, and there actually is no navy base in Osaka, but what the hey, I am happy.
As far as t-shirts go, this one is pretty typical. It doesn't seem to sturdy, and I can't picture it lasting for years to come. It has a "distressed" look typical of reproduction vintage shirts. Nothing fancy, but pretty cool.
There is one other shirt that connects the seemingly disconnected themes of Japan and Popeye. This Vintage Asian Popeye t-shirt is a little bit brighter and somewhat dorkier than the Navy shirt here, especially because of the big "Nippon" on the side. Popeye is much more popular in Japan than the US, so it makes sense that shirts would be produced exclusively for the Japanese market.
